Plugin Platform

This Personal Data Notice aims to give you information on how Orange S.A., acting as Data Controller, processes your personal data when you visit or use our Plugin Platform.

Please note that this Notice may be supplemented by specific information relating to Plugin which is described in the relevant Terms and Conditions.


What is Plugin?
Plug’in is a 5G experimentation platform to develop and test 5G software components and VNF (Virtualized Network Function) chains. Plug'in is to transform research within the Mobile Network Operator Orange by allowing researchers to collaborate on a shared platform and make their developments and experiments reproducible. Plug’in is also to attract external partners to collaborate and enrich its ecosystem. Finally Plug'in provides a sandbox where researchers and developers can experiment on existing software components, chain them, or develop new ones. Software is deployed leveraging standard virtualization technologies regardless of their programming language.

Why does Orange process your personal data and under what legal basis?
To contribute on the Plug’in Platform with an Atom, the Atom author (called “contributor”) will be asked to provide his name, first name, and email address, so that the administrator can exchange with him on his contribution.

For the Atom contributors, for the purposes of operating the Plugin Platform, Orange processes your data in order to:

  • allow visibility of contributions, including
  • keeping track of who contributed what, notably for security and legal reasons;
  • allowing feedback and exchanges inside the user community.

The processing is based on Orange’s legitimate interest as promoter of a platform for open and reproducible research, which requires exchanges with contributors.

Which personal data is needed in the context of the Plugin Sandbox?
The personal data we collect are:

Who has access to your personal data?
Account name, last name, first name, of an Atom Contributor may be accessed by any User connecting to the platform and using the Atom.
Email address of the Atom Contributor may be accessed (and is processed) only by Orange.
User willing to get in touch with an Atom contributor must request Orange to liaise with this Atom’s registered Contributor.
You are informed that, in accordance with the laws and regulations in force, the data may be transmitted to competent authorities, at their request, as Authorized Third Parties.

How long do we retain your personal information?
Orange undertakes to keep your personal data for no longer than is necessary for the purposes for which we process them, and in accordance with the regulations. Your personal data is processed as long as your user account is active. You can remove your Atom contribution on your personal initiative. In case you want to deactivate your account, please send a mail to contact.pluginthefuture@orange.com and your data will be removed at max 1 month from the deactivation date.

What are your rights and how you can exercise them?
In accordance with the regulations in force, you can exercise your rights of access, rectification of your personal data at any time. A right to object, a right to restriction of processing may also be exercised. In some cases, the portability of your data is possible.
To exercise your rights, you can email us by justifying your identity at group-dpo.donnees-personnelles@orange.com.
You are informed that you have the right to submit a request to the “Commission Nationale de l’Informatique et des Libertés” (CNIL), the supervisory authority in charge of compliance with the obligations regarding personal data in France. We encourage you to contact us before any request, so that we try to solve it together.

Are personal data transferred outside the EU?
Personal data are stored in servers located in the EU, and are processed by Orange employees.
Orange take all the appropriate guarantees to ensure the protection of your data and the compliance with the applicable personal data protection regulations.

How is your personal data secured?
Orange undertakes to protect your personal data in a secure and confidential way. In this respect, appropriate technical and organizational measures to prevent loss, misuse, alteration and deletion of your personal data are implemented. These measures are tailored in line with the level of sensitivity of the data.
